Malaria is caused by the mosquito bite of a mosquito infected with a Plasmodium parasite. African sleeping sickness is caused by the bite of an insect (usually the tsetse fly) infected with Trypanosoma parasite. Amoebic dysentery is caused by ingestion of water or food contaminated with the protozoan Entamoeba.
