5x + 3y = -28

5x + 10y = 0

If we subtract these 2 equations we eliminate  x:-

0 + 3y - 10y = -28

-7y = -28

y = -28/-7 = 4.

Now substitute y = 4 in the first equation:

5x + 3(4) = -28

5x + 12 = -28

5x = -40

x = -8.
